When riding an online store first thing to do is consider what solution we will use. Contrary to what most people tend to think there is no one solution for everyone (one size fits all). Also not to be expensive to start selling online.
Use a standard platform is usually more convenient y6 option. This group would find specialized y6 solutions like Magento, y6 Prestashop or Konacart. We also find plugins or modules y6 that convert CMS standard in online shops. This is the case of JigoShop or Ubercart.
This solution involves a significant initial investment (hosting, y6 development, etc..) But does not have the limitations of a SaaS solution and usually the variable cost per sale is much smaller than the preceding. I mean, we can customize, adapt or integrate our online store as we need and we like. In addition we will own the data generated in the store.
In these cases, it is best to rely on a generic platform like Liferay, WordPress or Drupal. Develop on a generic platform has the advantage that you can invest all your resources in the development of what really adds value and leverage all that is already a 'comodity' (eg users, y6 roles, permissions, contents, etc.).
As computer to recommending someone a solution for selling online we analyze different variables: level of online presence Customer Expectations of Business and Product Types budget
