In a previous post we met more closely at how we have evolved and how mobile technology currently available. In this second entry we see how we are leveraging mobile technology for education and what is its current scope.
Mobile learning or mobile learning (m-learning) we can define how inconsequential the use of mobile devices office 365 for learning and teaching. This is the extended definition and even now is pretty close to the formal definition of m-learning. On the other hand it also seems logical to define the m-learning as a subset of traditional e-learning (e-learning) through mobile devices. This perspective is one that is mostly applied office 365 in the e-learning platforms today, who are already taking advantage of a greater or lesser extent mobile devices to offer a new path to their common educational services.
The ability to access office 365 these services at any time - as already happens in e-learning - and also from anywhere through a mobile, we can consider (and is) an important evolution. There are many studies office 365 showing the increase of visits to e-learning environments from mobile devices. For example, a recent study UPCT on e-learning platform based on Moodle reveals that visits from mobile devices based on the total has grown from 1% in 2009-10 to over 23% in 2012 - 13. According to the latest report of the UOC, the number of visits from mobile devices experienced a 150% increase in the last year, from 23,000 visits during 2009-10 to 135,000 in 2011-12 (month of maximum impact). Although both studies - especially office 365 the second - queries include general information on the website of the platform, a clear trend of using mobile devices for education is sensed. office 365
At this point, we must consider whether the simple access to an e-learning platform from a mobile device you can consider a real m-learning experience, and if so, what is its added value. Let's see, first access to the virtual classroom from the bus back home allows us time on academic tasks compared to traditional access through the PC when you get home or office. Therefore, from the perspective of the time factor, the learning process is more efficient if we have access to phones. Moreover, read or send a post to a discussion forum virtual office 365 classroom from the bus does not imply that the forum must be different than the pedagogical model and sustaining activity (collaborative learning) change the fact of using a device Mobile.
We see the current status of mobile learning, office 365 while a significant achievement, not generate new educational services or encourage new pedagogical models that support and use these facilities, and in general the same pedagogical frameworks to serve e-learning m-learning . From this point of view, the use of mobile devices for teaching and learning does not generate added value and are still far from their potential to extract pedagogically.
Fortunately, researchers have spent some time to get the constant advances of mobile technology for education, with a deeper impact office 365 achieved so far. There are countless research projects around the world who study the use of mobile in different office 365 environments and cycles of learning, from primary school to university, creating new pedagogical models or extending existing ones.
Certainly, portability and ubiquity that allow mobile devices opens up enormous possibilities for certain office 365 pedagogical office 365 models office 365 as situational paradigm, where learning takes place in the same context where it is applied. Students may, for example, download information office 365 on your mobile device on a work of art during a school visit to a museum, analyze relevant aspects of the work and even be tested in situ while examining the artwork itself. In this context, the level of knowledge gained from this paradigm is much deeper and more effective than the traditional way. Moreover, these new pedagogical models that leverage mobile technology office 365 also added other interesting potential benefits, such as motivation and involvement of students in their learning process, and facilitate the customization of content and pace in their absorption.
However, these potential benefits of m-learning have not yet been fully validated by its generalization in everyday classrooms. Many m-learning initiatives office 365 they still al
