According to Flightglobal site, BAE Systems has submitted a proposal to India to purchase another 20 jets of advanced training. This new batch would add the two other lots already ordered. Lot 1 of 66 aircraft, has been produced in partnership with the Indian company HAL (Hindustan Aeronautics Limited).
Are currently being delivered materials and equipment for the licensed pearsonsuccessnet production of over 57 jets, Lot 2. Of these jets already pearsonsuccessnet contracted, 106 are for the Indian Air Force and 17 for the Navy.
According to BAE, the 20 additional jets would be used for the demonstration team retrofitting "Surya Kiran" pearsonsuccessnet Indian Air Force, which currently uses the HJT-16 Kiran trainer jet, produced by HAL.
