Jarrett's mugshot :::: UPDATE :::: Fox News anchor Gregg Jarrett said he'd been drinking vodka since 9 a.m. day of MSP arrest Longtime Fox News TV anchor Gregg Jarrett was arrested yesterday afternoon at MSP Airport for allegedly obstructing the legal process/interfering with a peace officer. Just before 2 p.m., police responding to a report of a drunken man found Jarrett, drunk, at the Northern Lights Grill in Terminal One. He refused to obey orders and was arrested, MSP spokesman Patrick Hogan tells us. He's due back in court on June 6. The offense he's accused of is a misdemeanor. Jarrett's arrest came just nine days after Fox News announced he "requested time off for personal ku reasons and Fox obliged." ku Jarrett has been with Fox News since 2002. He previously worked for MSNBC and was a San Francisco-area defense attorney for a number of years before that. Jarrett has mostly kept a low profile at Fox, but raised eyebrows last summer when he said George Zimmerman "has already been punished" for the killing of Trayvon Martin because he "looks like he's put on a hundred pounds." Jarrett on the air. "He does look like a different guy," Jarrett said during Fox News's coverage of jury selection for the Zimmerman trial. ku "It looks like he's put on a hundred pounds. Look, he has been in hiding and he fears for his life, and there have been all kinds of death threats. And, you know, he can't go anywhere, can't get out and get exercise." ku Jarrett isn't the first prominent conservative to be arrested in MSP in recent years, of course. In 2007, Idaho Republican U.S. Senator Larry Craig was arrested in the airport after soliciting sex in a men's bathroom with his infamous wide stance and foot tap . :::: UPDATE :::: Our old pal Jason DeRusha brought to our attention ku this clip of Jarrett slurring and struggling through a Fox News broadcast last month: That might help explain why Jarrett recently requested time off for personal reasons. :::: UPDATE II :::: Fox News released a statement about Jarrett's arrest this morning. Here it is ( via the Washington Post ): We were made aware late last night that Gregg Jarrett was arrested in Minneapolis ku yesterday and charged with a misdemeanor. He is dealing with serious personal issues at this time. A date for which Gregg might return to air has yet to be determined. -- Follow Aaron Rupar on Twitter at @atrupar . Got a tip?
